GOD’S THOUGHT OF A HOLY MARRIAGE
TOPIC: GOD’S THOUGHT OF A HOLY MARRIAGE
TEXT: Gen. 2:24.
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
So then, they are no longer two but one flesh.
Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate. Matt. 19:6.
WHAT IS A HOLY MARRIAGE?
1. This is joining a Christian man and woman together in a holy matrimony.
*You must guard your salvation with fear and trembling by keeping yourself and your spouse holy.
2. God is the match-maker.
*You must continue to allow God to be your Training Manager because your marriage is the product of God’s perfect choice.
*You must surrender your choices to Him in all your life together.
3. It is the union between a husband and a wife; between a man and a woman; male and female.
*You must not involve yourself in gay, lesbian, incest, and bestial activities.
4. The Holy Trinity is the Principal Witness in a Holy marriage.
*You must keep the Holy Spirit as your Senior Partner in your life together as husband and wife.
Heb. 13:4b … Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. And the bed (of marriage) undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”
*Adultery or any form of unfaithfulness in marriage incures God’s wrath with grave consequences such as regret, death physically and spiritually or both.
The Christian marriage is not for a while or “let’s give it a trial or wait and see”. It is “until Death do us part.” Ruth. 1:16, 17
Finally, as a reminder, read and meditate on this exhortation during wedding solemnization:
“Dearly beloved we are gathered here in the sight of God and in the face of this congregation to join together this man and woman in Holy Matrimony which is an honourable estate, instituted by God Himself, signifying unto us the mystical union that is between Christ and His church, which holy estate Christ adorned and beautified with His presence, and first miracle that ‘He wrought in Cana of Galilee, and is commanded in Holy Scripture to be honourable among all men; and therefore is not by any to be enterprised, nor, taken in hand, unadvised, lighthy or wantonly but reverently, discreetly, soberly and in the fear of God…” *Note the underlined words and phrases and make sure they reflect in your marriage. You need to work and pray hard at them.
